Janet began her career at the Chicago Nurses’ Association (CNA)
in 1981. She continued her career at the Chicago Medical Society (CMS)
where she served as a liaison between the City Council and the CMS and
assisted in development of the CMS Service Bureau for the physicians.
Janet was promoted to the national level, as account manager of the
American Medical Association Advertising Division where 9 specialty
journals and the Journal of American Medical Association (JAMA) are
produced.
Janet joined the National Association of Midnight Basketball Leagues
as Project Manager in January 2000. After much consideration, in 2003,
she incorporated the Richmond Midnight Basketball league to devote her
focus solely on helping youth and young adults in the Greater Richmond
Metropolitan area.
Janet oversees the development and implementation of the RMBL Programs.
She works closely with local career agencies to develop job training
and skills assessment to assist program participants in gaining successful
careers. She plans and develops local, state and national tournaments
for RMBL program participants.
With the support of Robert “Bobby” C. Scott, Janet developed
an after-school program for youth. Most recently, Janet was instrumental
in receiving funding from the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, located
in London, to implement a program for young women and continue the “No
Workshop…No Jumpshot” program for young adults.
Janet serves on the Board of Directors for Girls Going Places and is
a member of the Friends of Prevention Coalition. She is a faithful member
of the outreach ministry, women’s ministry and is the director
of new member ministry at her church. She is a volunteer for a hot-line
support group for drug and alcohol abuser in crisis.
Janet is also a mother
of two daughters: Nakeidria (Nikki) and Ashley.
